Short description: The main goal of our town twinning project was to create an event and platform where young people of the twin and partner towns can meet and share their thoughts about active citizenship, democracy, youth participation and the involvement of youngsters in local decision making. The main idea to create this project arose from the Student-Mayor office of Nyíregyháza, whom we work closely together thanks to the contract that we have with the town of Nyíregyháza. These youngsters wanted to meet with other young people to discuss local and global issues regarding youth and to debate and cooperate in different social topics. The various topics that were addressed during the meeting: culture, education, public spaces, leisure time, student rights, structured dialogue, active citizenship, young people becoming entrepreneurs, democracy and environmental protection. The participating cities are: Satu Mare(RO),Rzeszów(PL),Iserlohn(DE), Prešov(SK), Bielsko-Biała(PL), Nyíregyháza (HU), Gorlice (PL). We would like to involve 210 persons from 7 different countries.
The day of 16/09/2021 was dedicated to presenting the participating towns and creating links between different topics from each town. This day was also dedicated for the participants to get to know the town of Nyíregyháza and each other.
The day of 17/09/2021 was dedicated to session work where young people developed their skills and created recommendations in different topics in order to send it to decision makers on local and EU level. Besides this the participants had the opportunity to meet with the Deputy State Secretary of Youth (Zsófia Rácz) and ask questions.
The day of 18/09/2021 was dedicated to plenary meetings where young people spoke and discussed about the recommendations from all the sessions, and a meeting involving the local media where young people had the chance to speak with the mayors and decision makers of the participating towns about the created recommendations
